Graduating from the Masters of Occupational Therapy program in 2016, David has worked in a range of areas before completing his postgraduate study in Sydney to become a Certified Driver Occupational Therapist in early 2019. For David, working in the advanced scope of practice has been a rewarding challenge with a strong focus on assessment with drivers of a range of physical and cognitive limitations.
David comes to us with a range of relevant experience & before starting at Occupational Therapy Services Group, David spent a year travelling rural Australia as a locum Occupational Therapist in residential aged care. The role required assessment of residents for care needs, ACFI applications, and providing pain management services. Prior to this, David worked at QBE as a Case Manager in workers compensation.
In 2011 David finished his Bachelor of Science (Human Biology Preclinical) from Curtin University, and which has helped him in his current role as he is constantly researching and staying current in a diverse range of different treatment protocols. David's love for Occupational Therapy began when working for six years as a Disability Support Worker in the community, where he was first exposed to the benefit Occupational Therapy can have through providing environmental changes and assistive technology to assist people to achieve their goals & improve their quality of life. David enjoys the creativity required to work as an Occupational Therapist & the diverse and unique challenges that come with each individual circumstance. David enjoys his role in driver assessment and rehabilitation as he works with a diverse client group & has a passion for working in the community and directly in the person's occupations.
When not at the office you will find David religiously playing indoor soccer socially, and exploring the latest Burger bar in Perth. David enjoys travelling and in particular the regional visiting aspect of his current role. David's most valued possession at work is his tea and snack drawer & he is even nice enough to be constantly supplying the rest of us with sugar when we are in need!
