ABOUT US

At Occupational Therapy Services Group we enjoy the challenge our work provides, and enjoy helping to maintain people safely & independently in their communities. We believe our work incorporates the multi-faceted skills required in Occupational Therapy, and in order to meet the diverse needs of different individuals. We also believe that as Occupational Therapists, we have a unique and valuable role in enabling people to cope, maintain their independence, and their activity level within the community, helping to achieve a fulfilling life.

History

Home Occupational Therapy Services was established in 1982, and has since grown to become a highly regarded Occupational Therapy service in the Perth metro area. Initially starting in Marilyn's family home where she started off as a sole practitioner for many years subcontracting services to DVA; Occupational Therapy Services Group has expanded over the past 40 years with input from her son Chris to now provide additional specialty services under the Occupational Therapy Services Group title. Our team of experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapists have specialty skills in the areas of:
  • Home & environmental assessment 
  • Community rehabilitation & activity retraining
  • Falls risk assessment & prevention
  • Driving assessment & rehabilitation
  • Vehicle modification & driving aid prescription
  • Neurological assessment & rehabilitation
  • Medico-legal consultancy services or other independent assessment services
  • Complex & basic assistive technology and equipment
  • Complex & basic home structural modification
  • Wheelchair & seating prescription
  • Mobility gopher or scooter prescription & training
  • Pressure care management
  • Palliative care & chronic disease management

All of our Occupational Therapists are experienced in their area of work, & conduct thorough and comprehensive assessments combined with a people centred approach.

Our main clinic is located in Bentley, with a satellite office also located in Malaga. Our services are provided in the community throughout the Perth metropolitan area, and we also provide our full range of specialty services to local rural communities in the Peel, South West, Midwest & Wheatbelt regions. We also periodically provide a visiting clinic-based service in rural regions on a regular basis & including Bunbury/Busselton, Geraldton, & Kalgoorlie.

We are passionate about Occupational Therapy and achieving the best outcomes for all our people. All of our therapists are registered with the Australian Board of Occupational Therapy, and are members of relevant professional bodies including OT Australia (National OT Association). We conduct continuous professional development to ensure the highest level of services to our people, and regularly share our skills by conducting seminars with other therapists & students throughout WA.

Mission

​The primary goal of Occupational Therapy Services Group is to help our clients achieve their optimal quality of life through the services provided by our staff. It is important to us that we all carry out continuous quality improvement and professional development activities. Occupational Therapy Services Group aims to provide an environment and opportunities to support the learning and ongoing development of our staff. We believe in the unique person-hood of everyone associated with Occupational Therapy Services Group.

We believe that all people have a right to be treated as individuals, regardless of their capacity to express their needs or gratitude for services received. In valuing the individual person, we acknowledge and respect individual differences and preferences. At Occupational Therapy Services Group we encourage a people-centered, holistic approach when dealing with all people.

​In keeping with our mission statement, we acknowledge and accept the duty of care we have to our clients, and our obligation to strive to continuously improve the quality of services which we provide to the community.
