We volunteer our time to input into a range of policy and environmental factors shaping this areas of practice & to make your experience better, year after year. VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS & AIDS

Modified Driver Vehicle Controls

Establishing independence through driving a vehicle is a significant milestone for anyone, and for those making alterations to a vehicle - we know this is a huge decision, and it’s a decision you want you to get right the first time. OT Services Group provides modified vehicles for trial & with a range of vehicle modifications and driving aids to help people with a disability, injury or medical impairment to gain, retain or regain their driver’s licence. We will work closely with you to find or create the right solution and ensure you get back onto the road as soon as possible.

Fadiel Sattelite Accelerator
Designed to be worn like a glove, this provides a 'thumb throttle' and allows you to drive with both hands on the steering wheel!
Combined Brake & Trigger Accelerator
This electronic modification is operated by pushing the lever for brake and pulling the trigger for acceleration.
Push/ Pat Brake & Accelerator Lever
​Is operated by pushing the lever for brake and patting the handle towards the ground for acceleration.
Lodgesons Steering Ball with Keypad
Fully adjustable keypad (optional) ball style spinner knob for one handed steering.
Lodgesons Steering Lollipop with Keypad
Alternative 'joystick' style spinner knob for one handed steering and easy keypad access. Gripped for comfort.
Quick Release Glove & Peg Steering Aid
Allows for secure one-handed steering when there is limited hand function.
Tri-Spin Spinner Knob
Allows for sercure one-handed steering when there is limited hand function & allows use of proximal (shoulder) strength.
Twin Flip Up/ Down Left Foot Accelerator Pedal
Allows the left and right accelerator pedals to be flipped up (for leg space) & flipped down for foot acceleration.
Pedal Extensions
​Adjustable pedal extensions are an innovative solution designed for those unable to reach and use the standard foot pedals.
High Level Assessment Vehicle
We can help access a highly modified vehicle to trial ‘driving from a wheelchair’. The vehicle is also demonstrates various driving high level solutions such as voice activation and is valuable for those wanting to know how it feels to drive from a power wheelchair with docking station.

Other Vehicle Modifications & Aids

Community independence is more than just driving. Getting in and out of a vehicle can be extremely challenging for some, loading and unloading mobility equipment and appliances can require Assistive Technology or support, and we also understand that vehicles differ significantly between make and models. We will work with you to enable you to get into and out of your vehicle safely & independently; to load and unload any mobility equipment, appliances or any other day to day items - to enable you to live safely, actively and independently.

Panoramic & Adapted Mirrors
Helps to eliminate all blind spots for added safety, by providing a 300 percent wider angle view than conventional mirrors & helping those with restricted trunk and neck movement.​
Postural Support Harness
Postural belts are very helpful if you need extra support when seated in a vehicle. It provides a correct seating position, and prevents the user falling forwards or side-wards & allows for safe use of the seat belt.
Handybar
Is a universal fit & allows the user to easily sit or stand safely while entering or exiting their vehicle, offering support and protection from falls.
Swivel Seat & Swivel Cushions
Basic & complex swivel options are available to help make getting into the vehicle safer & easier.
Seat Cushions & Back Rests
We have available for trail a number of seat cushions and back rests which can help to elevate your point of view, improve your sitting position, manage any pressure concerns, or provide comfort for chronic pain.
Wheelchair Hoists - internal
​We can organise trial and demonstration of a number of wheelchair hoist options which will help you to load your mobility equipment into the car independently.
Wheelchair Hoists - roof top 
​We can organise trial and demonstration of a number of wheelchair hoist roof top options which will help you to load your wheelchair independently.
Wheelchair Carrier - external
We can organise trial and demonstration of a number of external mobility scooter and wheelchair carriers which are simple to use and conserves space inside your vehicle!

Our Unique Approach

We try to have a minimalist approach when it comes to vehicle modifications. We think Assistive Technology is pretty exciting, but having worked closely with you for so long, we have also learnt that relying on vehicle modifications and driving aids can be extremely limiting to your lifestyle (meaning you can not drive a friends or families vehicle, or often limiting work roles) & also know the frustration you experience when the technology lets you down! So wherever possible, we try to keep your future goals and lifestyle in mind & when prescribing Assistive Technology and will often try driving strategies before prescribing vehicle modifications.

We also spend a lot of our time keeping up to date with advances in Assistive Technology and new products being introduced to the Vehicle Modification market. We try our hardest to have these products available to you for trial, and if further customisation is required or a product isn't particularly right for you, we will work with you and the vehicle modifier to find the right solution for your individual circumstance.
